Abstract
In Chap. 8, the non-stereotypical positions of doctors and e-patients in the OMC affective practice have been discussed at length. The present chapter goes further to link these atypical positions to power relations between doctors and e-patients.
Part of this chapter has been reported in my paper: “Dynamic power relations in online medical consultation in China: Disrupting the traditional roles through discursive positioning” which has been published in the journal Chinese Journal of Communication.

- 1.
E-healthcare websites usually have the regulation that if a doctor does not reply within 24 h, the consultation will be automatically closed, and the money paid for the consultation will be returned to the e-patient.
