Abstract

The cultural industry in the special economic zones has maintained a good developmental trend and achieved a good start during the 13th Five-Year Plan. The cultural industry has become an important engine for the development of the special economic zones, and the digital creative industry has especially showed a good momentum of development. The digital creative industry has played a great role in promoting the deep integration of culture and science and technology, and new forms of culture are constantly emerging. Based on the analysis of the current situation of the development of the cultural industry in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Shantou and Hainan in 2016, this report puts forward four characteristics of that development in the special economic zones, namely, digital creativity promotes the upgrading of the cultural industry, the influx of cultural capital brings dual effects, content payment becomes the new economic growth point, and the network live broadcasting and virtual reality create a trend. In terms of the future development of the cultural industry in the special economic zones, this paper puts forward some policy suggestions, such as promoting the development of the digital creative industry, upholding the comprehensive protection of intellectual property rights, vigorously cultivating cultural creative talents, and encouraging mass innovation and entrepreneurship.
