Abstract
This paper mainly develops the fact that in 2016, the five special economic zones promoted industrial upgrading, implemented innovation policies and supported enterprise innovation by utilizing their geographical location and resource endowment. Adjacent to Hong Kong, Shenzhen expanded the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, improved the policy system of innovation, and vigorously developed strategic emerging industries such as cultural creativity, the new generation of information technology and energy conservation and environmental protection; adjacent to Macao, Zhuhai ranked second in capability for innovation, vigorously developed the Hengqin New Area, and promoted the high-tech industry, the financial industry, and the tourism and leisure industry; adjacent to the Taiwan Straits, Xiamen had newly established the Fuzhou-Xiamen-Quanzhou National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, and was focusing on the development of the integrated circuit industry and the biopharmaceutical industry; Hainan focused on the development of green agriculture, the marine industry, the “Internet +” industry, the tourism industry, etc. The innovations to and development of the Shantou Special Economic Zone were relatively slow. In recent years, it has vigorously promoted the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry, developed the Chaozhou-Shantou cultural industry and revitalized the development of eastern, western and northern Guangdong.
