Abstract

For the next-generation solar cell technology, quantum dot-sensitized solar cell is a promising agent. So, this paper mainly concentrates on synthesis of core–shell nanoparticles for solar cell applications and analyzes the properties using different measurement techniques. After hydrothermal treatment, CdSe/ZnSe (core–shell) nanoparticles are stabilized by aqueous solutions containing L-cysteine via a chemical precipitation technique. The CdSe core is first produced using precursors and L-cysteine as the capping ligand. The layer-by-layer approach is then used to grow the ZnSe shell onto the CdSe core. The properties of samples are analyzed by X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The absorption and emission properties are analyzed using UV–vis spectrophotometer, respectively. To analyze the composite dots and determine their chemical arrangement, average size, size distribution, shape, and internal structure, TEM and FT-IR, particle size analyzer, scanning and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry are used.
