Abstract

Tooth preparation (TP), short for tooth preparation surgery, is a procedure in prosthodontics for the reduction of tooth’s hard tissue by dental cutting instruments (including rotary cutting instruments and non-rotary cutting instruments) and the shaping of resistance, retention, and finish line according to the clinical design and requirements, to enable it to accommodate a restorative material with proper connecting interface and supporting structure.
