Technical Advances in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Abstract

In 2021, the surgical arena is replete with minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) and accruing robotic adjuncts for this popular technique. However, in order to continue advancing surgical practice and driving development within this field, a concise synthesis of progress made in robotic surgery for MISS is critical. In this chapter, we briefly chronicle the history of robotic surgery, and delineate the pivotal strides this technology has made in MISS.
