Abstract

Under the collective leadership of the Party Central Committee, various provinces and regions have actively explored a large number of effective models for poverty alleviation, including poverty alleviation through industrial development, employment, relocation, ecological protection and development, education, healthcare, finance, technology, photovoltaic industry, e-commerce, asset income, tourism, etc., all of which play an active role in winning the battle against poverty and become an important part of China’s poverty alleviation system. Among them, poverty alleviation through industrial development means taking advantage of local resources, promoting the sustainable development of the local economy with industries, and consolidating the economic foundation for local poverty alleviation; poverty alleviation through education calls for vigorous efforts to develop education to activate the endogenous drivers of poor families and improve their comprehensive quality, which is the fundamental way to stop poverty from being passed on to the next generation; ecological poverty alleviation includes ecological protection, restoration and development of ecological industries, which occupies an increasingly important position in China’s poverty alleviation system, for it promotes poverty alleviation and income increase of poor households while greatly improving their living environment; poverty alleviation through healthcare requires implementation of effective measures such as registering poor households, and providing categorized treatment and priority assistance, which will prevent people from falling into or slipping back into poverty due to illness and bring a satisfactory end to the great cause of poverty relief. It is fair to say that the four models above occupy an important position in China’s poverty alleviation system and have their own characteristics. This chapter will focus on these four models.
