Abstract
In the speech at the reception celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, President Xi Jinping pointed out, “Over the past 70 years, the Chinese people, being hardworking and enterprising, have made remarkable achievements that amaze the whole world. Absolute poverty, a problem that has plagued the Chinese nation for thousands of years, is about to come to an end, creating a great legend in the history of human development!” Since the founding of New China 70 years ago, the country has been committed to eradicating its own poverty and supporting and helping other poor countries eliminate poverty. Especially since the reform and opening up, China has greatly reduced the number of poverty-stricken areas and poor population through the organization and implementation of large-scale poverty alleviation and development programs while ensuring high-speed, sustained and stable economic growth.
