Abstract
In this introductory chapter, I consider the broad features of Jordanian gender dynamics under patriarchy and the development of the Jordanian mediascape, as I set the stage for subsequent in-depth analyses of the interactions between the two. I also consider my positionality as a Jordanian woman conducting research on the subject and the implications this had on the research process.
