Abstract

China and the US are the world’s most significant economic and political actors. Over the period covered by this book, fluctuations in relations between Beijing and Washington formed the central storyline, not just of China’s external relations, but of global affairs at large. Based on CCG’s ongoing research into this topic and a series of related events and Track II diplomacy visits to the US, the articles featured in this chapter present a Chinese perspective on this unfolding story at key junctures and outline policy recommendations for how relations between the two powers might be improved.
