Abstract

Costs of treatments by modern medicine have significantly increased causing accessibility and affordability problems. The patent protections for new drugs have killed the competition and have given the patent holder to become super rich at the cost of patients’ health. Pharmacoeconomics and outcome research have helped the government to understand the dynamics of drug price and its impact on accessibility and affordability. Outcome research is helpful in rationalizing the drug therapy and making drug therapy from product-centric to patient-centric.
