Abstract

Most companies implement lean manufacturing to make profits either directly by reducing costs or indirectly by maximizing productivity. When integrating these tools and techniques, lean manufacturing development goals towards the detection and removal of various waste within the plant or the supply chain. This research is to investigate the application of lean manufacturing tools: the impact on kaizen and product defection in packaging companies. There are three research objectives which are to identify the cause that influences the defect of the product by using lean manufacturing tools.; to evaluate the effectiveness of lean manufacturing tools to improve quality standard kaizen in packaging industry and to adapt lean manufacturing tools to increase kaizen in packaging industry. In this study, the researcher has selected 196 respondents as sample to answer questionnaire. The respondents selected were from the top and middle level managers. For finding analysis, the researcher has used descriptive statistics, cross tabulation, cronbach’s alpha, pearson’s correlation coefficient analysis, and multiple regression analysis by SPSS software to analyze the data. The finding indicates that there is significant. The finding indicates that there is significant positive relationship between 4M, 5S, PDCA, and Fishbone Diagram concepts due to defect of product towards quality standard kaizen. The researcher recommends a deeper understanding of the relationship and effect on the success of its operations by organizations and their managers of some of the most effective lean methods. This will encourage managers to take better and more effective decisions on the implementation of lean methods.
