Abstract
Xu Yuanchong’s achievements occupy a special place in the history of the translation of ancient Chinese classics in the second half of the twentieth century. Xu is typical of a translator who has not only produced prolific translations, but has also left a treasure trove of papers on translation theory. He is a milestone figure in the translation and dissemination of ancient Chinese cultural classics.
