Abstract

Industrial and mining activities generate large quantities of non-organic solid wastes (NOSWs). Annually billions of tonnes of NOSWs are generated across the globe, which has a great potential to be utilised in the construction industry. The utilisation of NOSWs such as fly ash, CDW, slag, mine tailings (iron and gold mine tailings) for the production of stabilised CEB has been discussed. Very high quality CEBs can be manufactured using NOSWs. Utilisation of NOSWs can mitigate the adverse environmental impacts caused due to disposal of such by-products.
