Abstract

The design of a manufactured reconfigurable micro-strip patch antenna utilizing the pixel grid overlay approach with air as a medium and 1.8 mm between radiating patches and pixel overlay to achieve beam steer capabilities is shown in this article. The developed antenna, which uses beam steering and operates at 2.4512 GHz, has a maximum gain of 5.57 dB and directivity of 8.95 dBi, with a VSWR of 1.1595(< 2). The single-layer and multilayer reconfigurable patch antennas were constructed and tested using VNA and found to operate at 2.44486 GHz with S11 of −10.010 dB and 2.4676 GHz with S11 of −10.680 dB, respectively. The goal of the design is to use beam steering to enhance the power efficiency of WLAN and Wi-Fi.
