Abstract

Implementing good educational systems is essential for creating future leaders equipped with multiple skills and competencies such as self-learning and development, teamwork, and entrepreneurship qualifications. Therefore, this chapter aims to highlight the current state of science education in Jordan. It considers the country's demography, including population, economy, technology, cultural development, and political system, as these factors highly influence the national science education. Accordingly, the researchers provided a detailed overview of Jordan's education system development and currently employed policies. This chapter gives specific statistics regarding teachers and students number at different educational levels provided by the Ministry of Education and the Department of Statistics. Due to this research's importance, some educational research institutions and programs have been mentioned in this chapter. Education and research are crucial for the development of any country. However, science education is affected by multiple factors such as economy, politics, and global variants like the COVID-19 Pandemic. Therefore, policies and standards should be reviewed and modified to provide students with the best educational experience possible. In addition to policies, student assessment tools should be revisited to guarantee appropriate learning outcomes for science education. Jordan is also well known to have a good technology infrastructure for science education and research, some of which are described in this chapter. Although the Jordanian education system faces many challenges, adaptation mechanisms are highly required to provide a sustainable educational environment that meets international excellence for creating resilient future generations.
