Abstract

This chapter includes (1) Absent left common carotid artery (Separate origin of the left internal and external carotid arteries from the aortic arch), (2) Absent right common carotid artery (Separate origin of the right internal and external carotid arteries from the brachiocephalic trunk), (3) Low carotid bifurcation, (4) High carotid bifurcation, (5) Non-bifurcating cervical carotid artery, and (6) External carotid-internal carotid artery anastomosis at the mid-cervical segment. There are 9 figures and 3 illustrations.

Because these variations are dangerous during anterior neck surgery, it is important to make a correct diagnosis before surgery.
