Abstract
Various sampling methods and methods of sample preparation are described with special reference to EUS-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). Cytological features of common infections like HSV, CMV, H. pylori, giardiasis, and cryptosporidiosis have been described. A detailed account of various submucosal lesions and their differential diagnoses are discussed. Finally, the role of cytology in the identification of dysplasia in Barrett’s esophagus and ulcerative colitis is discussed.
