Abstract
This chapter begins by outlining in more depth the methodology that has guided the book. The rationale and significance of choosing phenomenology and interpretive inquiry to examine career change teachers' lives is discussed, providing the ground work for a deeper exploration in Chap. 7. The second part of the chapter introduces the four career change teachers - Amy, Kamini, Jim, and Sharon, whose stories have inspired the writing of this book. Their challenges, aspirations, and their journeys as beginning teachers are explored through a case study and narrative inquiry lens. Together with Chaps. 6 and 7, this chapter provides a deep dive into teachers' experiences, teaching practices and ways of navigating the terrain of schools and education systems as career changers.
