Abstract
Conjunctiva, despite its simplicity, has several peculiar details that commonly appear in exams. An example of such details includes different histological composition of bulbar and palpebral conjunctiva, where the former has columnar epithelial cells, whereas the latter has squamous epithelial cells. Another example is the difference in vascular supply and lymphatic drainage between medial and lateral parts of conjunctiva.
This chapter will begin by introducing the gross anatomy of conjunctiva followed by high yield histological information, and important arterial, venous, lymphatic, and nerve supply. After that, details about Tenon’s capsule will be covered. Finally, the chapter will cover high yield pathologies that commonly appear in basic exams.
