A control system regulates the operation of a device or another system with the help of a set of IF–THEN logical rules. In particular, a fuzzy control system analyzes the input data in terms of variables taking continuous values in the interval [0, 1]. Fuzzy logic has the advantage of expressing the solution of a problem in the natural language, which enables the mechanization of tasks that have been already performed successfully by humans. The present paper studies the operation of a fuzzy control system and illustrates it by an application to a building’s central heating boiler.
