Abstract
This chapter will explore the main ideas of using Scientific Effects and Phenomena for System Development and Evolution. Using Scientific Effects and phenomena for problem-solving has been a much-respected element of TRIZ since its start. Its use in TRIZ has become even more critical in our modern times of fast-growing technology and problems relating to natural resources and the environment. Scientific Effects and phenomena are fuel for the creation of innovative and patentable solutions. Often, we need combinations of effects from different sciences. This chapter explores examples of effects and their applications, the structure of the Scientific Knowledge Database and the method for selecting effects.
