Abstract
The emergence of Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System has brought about a technological revolution in the field of surgery. To perform robotic surgery, hospitals have to purchase, maintain, and regularly upgrade the robotic surgery system. The equipment cost is quite high. At present, a set of equipment costs more than RMB10 million on average, and the annual maintenance cost ranges from US$100,000–US$150,000. Most of the Endowrist accessories in the Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, such as scissors, grasping forceps, and needle holder, can only be used 10–20 times, due to which there is a recurring cost of US$400–US$1200 for disposables for each operation, depending on the specific operation. At present, only one company, Intuitive Surgical, produces the Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, and there is no market competition, so it is difficult to get the product, accessories, and services at a lower cost.
