Abstract

Ocean data is the fundamental source for prediction of role of ocean in climate maintenance and environmental sustainability in the coastal zone. In situ perception parameters like temperature, pressure, and depth are used to understand climate variability. In view of the above challenges, a prototype of a low-cost profiling buoy using Arduino Nano is proposed to achieve an enhanced real-time capability for the estimation of underwater parameters. The developed buoy system exploits the buoyancy principle for sinking and raising that automatically collects the temperature and pressure profiles. The profiling buoy finds applications in different water body scenarios like river, sea, and ocean to measure many surface and sub-surface parameters.
