Abstract
There has been an increasing demand for anesthesia services in the gastroenterology suites that range from simple sedation to general anesthesia. The annual number of endoscopic procedures performed is staggering and increasing every year. Another unique fact that underlines the healthcare burden of these numbers is the rate of the requirement of anesthesia or sedation that has gone up for these procedures. A simple literate search yields interesting insight into the change in the practice of sedation for these procedures. Various facilities are striving to initiate and use regular sedation practices and protocols for gastrointestinal endoscopy (GIE) suite.
