Abstract

In this section we discuss our planetary system. First we give an overview then we discuss chaotic behavior. Chaotic behavior of solar system bodies can be found in their orbits, rotations, formation processes etc. This chapter finishes with a short outlook to exoplanetary systems.

Notes

  1. 1.

The ecliptic is the plane of the Earth’s orbit about the Sun.

  2. 2.

\(M_\odot =2\times 10^{30}\,\mathrm{kg}\), the mass of the Sun.

  3. 3.

In the best possible case of a first order resonance \(|p-q|=1\).
