Abstract
As Vološinov (Marxism and the philosophy of language. Harvard University Press, Cambridge, 1973) argues, “no utterance can be put together without value judgement. Every utterance is above all an evaluative orientation (emphasis in original)”. It is widely acknowledged that discourse conveys the speaker’s/writer’s attitudes and stance, and the way in which these evaluative orientations are represented certainly have influences on the relations among the participants involved in discourse, either positively or negatively.
