Ocular Tumors

Abstract

Tumors of the ocular surface include a wide spectrum of epithelial, stromal, and vascular lesions that may be congenital or acquired. Acquired lesions are categorized as melanotic or non-melanotic. Ocular surface tumors require careful and meticulous assessment as it can mimic common inflammatory and non-neoplastic conditions. Surgical excision is the gold standard management modality. Newer treatment alternatives including topical chemotherapy/immunotherapy have shown encouraging results. Malignant tumors like conjunctival melanoma can be lethal. Systemic association of malignant tumors mandates thorough evaluation. Protocol-based management in ocular surface tumors has improved the outcome.
