Abstract
This monograph applies the theories to interpreting (musical) theatre, films, and TV drama. Chapter 2 interprets Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet in films and pop music. Chapter 3 analyzes Habitus and Spectacle in Korean Film Along with the Gods by cinematic 3D special effects and CGI. Chapter 4 explores myth imagination by Levi-Strauss’ anthropology on Taiwan musical Classic of Mountain and Sea and Chinese Film The Monkey King. Chapter 5 on face, race, identity, etc. in Yellow Face, Cats, The Lion King, War Paint, and Jekyll & Hyde & So On. Chapter 6 women’s revenge in Chicago and The Visit. Chapter 7 explores Chinese TV drama Story of Yanxi Palace. Chapter 8 explores “play-within-the-play” in Hakka Theater Roseki. Chapter 9 on Robot Theatre and AI Films.
