Abstract
With increasing workload experienced by many websites, distributed web-server cluster has become a popular choice for site managers to expand the capacity of the webserver system. A web-server cluster consists of multiple web servers with a load distribution scheme to spread client requests among servers. This report focuses on dispatcher-based architecture. We study the performances of different scheduling algorithms by means of trace-driven simulation and then propose a more time-efficient approach for heterogeneous loads.
