Working Two Way

Abstract

Reconciliation Australia conduct a biennial survey that seeks to determine the progress of reconciliation between First Peoples and non-Indigenous Australians called the ‘reconciliation barometer’ the results confirm that there is still work to be done to improve the relationship between non-Indigenous Australians and First Peoples. All Australians can contribute to reconciliation and ‘closing the gap’ of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander disadvantage. ‘Working two way’ is respectful, capacity building, democratic and emancipatory; it asks that non-Indigenous Australians are ‘koorda’ to First Nations people. Action research can guide our ways of working to meet these goals.
