Abstract
The sustainable development of energy market is depending on the improvement of renewable energy technologies. The renewable technologies are eco-friendly, green, and clean resources for power generation. Conventional sources for generating energy are limited on earth which creates scarcity and they are also producing harmful gases to atmosphere. The technologies based on renewable energy sources are providing a great opportunity to minimize the global warming by reducing the production of greenhouse gases (like CO2). Some renewable energy sources are useful for minimizing the wastes from the locality (like biogas). In rural areas, renewable technologies are offering employment opportunities. Though earth is plenty with renewable sources, they are dramatically depending on the geographical positions and environmental situations. This creates several challenges for the development of renewable technologies. This chapter gives a concise overview on merits and limitations of renewable energy sources. For monitoring and controlling the renewable technologies, Internet of things (IoT) can play a vital role. The chapter mainly focuses on the different types of renewable technologies. The implementation of this green energy technology offers a sustainable development of the energy market. In this chapter monitoring of solar PV is also briefly discussed with IoT technology.
