Abstract
Economic development is highly correlated with and seemingly influenced by region a country a society is located. The chapter starts off exploring the regions with the most recent success in reducing poverty, East and Southeast Asia, followed by a review of regions of the world which has had less success in reducing poverty, South and Central Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. Then a brief exploration of the unique situation found in the Middle East with a short look at the experiences of the regions of the world which has had the most success in reducing poverty over the long term, Western nations. The chapter ends up with a brief look at creating wealth and reducing poverty in island nations.
