Abstract
The centrally located secondary atrial septal defect (ASD) is preferably treated by interventional closure through the femoral vein approach, which does not require thoracotomy and extracorporeal circulation, and when guided by echocardiography, not only avoids conventional surgery but also avoids X-ray exposure. However, the femoral vein diameter of young patients is too small to be used as a pathway, and the jugular vein is larger than the femoral vein and can be alternative of the femoral vein. Therefore, age and weight limitations are resolved by closing the ASD through the jugular vein. This chapter introduces how to perform PAN procedure for ASD from the jugular vein.
