Abstract
The learning of culture has been a secondary goal in language curricula for Mother Tongue Languages (MTLs; second languages). For this reason, MTL textbooks naturally have only a small portion of lessons with cultural content. As a language itself has no content of its own (other than linguistic features and rules), most language texts use other kinds of content to teach the language, and such content is mostly not specifically culture-based but presumably relevant to the student’s daily life and language needs.
As an expansion of the previous articles, this article discussed the expected benefit, problem, and possible solutions in teaching Chinese culture as an integral part of Chinese Language lessons.
