Abstract

There are various causes of acute kidney injury (AKI). Previously published textbooks by other authors classify these causes into three categories, partly for the purpose of differentiation (Sesso, Am J Kidney Dis 44:410–419, 2004). This chapter provides a general explanation of the causes of AKI. For AKI diagnostic criteria, refer to Chap. 1.
