Abstract
Buckling failure of plastic bending tube is an inevitable phenomenon in practical engineering. Various approaches to deal with buckling failure of plastic bending tube are presented. The experimental data and the rational analysis indicate the model of ellipse approach to describe the ovalization of cross section of bending tube with a rigid–perfectly plastic material mode provides an appropriate estimation for the critical buckling strain. Furthermore, the strain hardening effect on the critical buckling strain of plastic bending tube is presented with comparison with available experimental data as well.
