Abstract
In the concluding chapter, the key findings of the research have been summarised and the limitations of the methodological approaches used are discussed in some detail. The conclusions reiterate the importance of prevailing career aspirations, the particular habitus and the (lack of) endowment with various forms of Bourdieusian capital in understanding the limited mobilisation of the inhabitants of the East End in the Olympic labour market. Also, the systematic limiting of the options for local mobilisation in deprived neighbourhoods by the imperatives of a high-stakes/high-risk mega-event is once again elaborated. Finally, the conclusion offers some reflections about the employment legacy of mega-events in general and of London 2012 in particular. It also points out to the process of urban alienation among locals towards their city, which the ongoing major projects are triggering.
