Abstract

This proposed work is an attempt to design a novel anti-theft-cum-accident alert system for two-wheelers using location-based services. As the cases of thefts and accidents involving two-wheelers are increasing, the safety of the vehicle, as well as the rider, is exceptionally essential. The proposed system is divided into two parts, a hardware module for detection and an android application for providing necessary alerts. The architecture is based on the global positioning system, general packet radio service, speed sensors, impact detection device, Web servers, and an android application. The anti-theft mode sends theft alerts to the owner and also provides an opportunity for the owner for shutting off the engine by a single tap on their phone, while the accident alert mode sends notifications to the relatives of the owner immediately after an accident. The whole system is designed by taking into consideration its compatibility with all kinds of two-wheelers and the low cost of manufacturing.
