Evolution and the Interaction of Conventions

Part of the Economy and Social Inclusion book series (ESI)

The present chapter and the next analyze the interaction of conventions, or different behavior patterns. Chapter 10 presents a general framework to analyze the interaction, while Chap. 11 focuses more on minority-majority issues in an economic arena. Chapter 10 develops a two-society model to analyze the interaction of societies with different conventions. The two societies may be interpreted as two groups within a single society such as persons with and without disability. Different groups have different traits/preferences so that optimal actions and desirable social outcomes may be different from each other.
