In Chap.  2, we reviewed the relation types realized by different clausal linking patterns in the framework of SFL and formulated the clausal relation system following the notion of cline. In this chapter, we will conduct a quantitative research on the genre distributions of clause combining based on the Crown corpus, the BNC, and the COCA. The research mainly focuses on the application of the relations in informal and formal texts.
