Abstract

Congenital cataract with preexisting posterior capsular defect (PCD) is a rare condition and can pose a surgical challenge. Preexisting PCD is described as lens abnormality manifesting in infants and small children as a congenital cataract where there is a defect in the posterior capsule [1]. Incidence of the condition ranges from 2% to 6.7% [2, 3]. PCD can also be seen in cases of trauma [4, 5] but they are excluded from the terminology of preexisting PCD.
