Abstract

In this chapter, the basic procedures, methods, and techniques of the disaster risk map compilation are expounded. The spatiotemporal difference pattern of the disaster risk can be objectively manifested by the technique of map or atlas. The map visualization of the regional disaster system information includes the normalization and standardization of the disaster system information, the database establishment, the procedure, cartographic standard and technique for the compilation of the disaster risk thematic map or atlas, the platemaking and printing of the disaster risk map, the making of electronic and digital disaster risk map, and other technique systems. The disaster risk map can support the comprehensive analysis of the regional disaster risk. The regional disaster system information is the basis for the compilation of the disaster map or atlas, while the regional disaster information system is the important expression of the digital disaster map or atlas.
