Translation of Public Opinion Updates

This chapter first briefly reviews three dominant internship types in MTI education in mainland China and points out the potential problems. It then introduces the fourth type, which is based on inside-school practice base and focuses on the example of China Research Institute of Global Energy Public Opinion, the MTI inside-school practice base of China University of Petroleum (Beijing). The body part explores how MTI students there are trained in the translation of public opinion updates on five different platforms: website, microblog, journal, monthly report, and WeChat. Taking advantage of the school’s resource and professional characteristics and integrating translation with energy study, news media, and cultures of oil-producing countries, our MTI inside-school practice base not only innovates personnel cultivation but also enhances the construction of academic disciplines and teaching resources and makes improvement in academic exchanges and international cooperation.
