Abstract
A silicon photonic directional coupler with ferroelectric cladding has been studied. It is shown that the domain switching in ferroelectric material can be utilized to reduce continuous power consumption and thermal noise in dense photonic integrated circuits when compared to conventional thermo-optic actuators.
