Abstract

Although Japan had normalized relations with China in 1972, China was under the control of the “Gang of Four” in the 1970s, and was still firmly closed to the outside world. The actual conditions of the Cultural Revolution were still wrapped in mystery. It could be said that for those interested in the sociology of systems, there was no other country that drew as much curiosity.
