Toward Modern Economics

Abstract

Upon entering graduate school, I joined a seminar taught by Yoshirō Tamanoi , an Uno economics follower who was a specialist on economic doctrinal history. Marxism was in its glory days in the Faculty of Economics at University of Tokyo, and there were not yet any seminars that seriously dealt with theories of modern economics. Professor Ryūtarō Komiya had just returned from studying abroad at Harvard University. To me, in the midst of the process of converting from Marxism, his razor-sharp features exuded an atmosphere that was difficult for me to approach.
