Abstract
In order to fill the gaps in data, IDC team arranged a focused group discussion in a few schools selected as the representative sample in two districts of Punjab. In addition, an informal interaction without a formal questionnaire was also held with students and a few teachers of the private and other Government schools in localities nearby to the schools selected for the detailed survey. The purpose was to have first-hand information from interactions with students, parents and teachers and look at the infrastructure and other conditions prevailing in schools. In this regard, a survey of ten rural Government schools in two districts of Mohali and Ropar was undertaken for the 5th class.
