Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for Early Esophageal Neoplasms
Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) represents a major advance in minimally invasive approaches for the treatment of superficial early gastrointestinal tract neoplasias.
The procedure is also gaining acceptance as a curative treatment of superficial early esophageal neoplasias including squamous cell carcinoma, high-grade dysplasia, and Barrett’s esophagus.
The purpose of this chapter is to examine the indications, basic techniques, complications, and evaluation of resected specimens of esophageal ESD.
