Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the youth justice system in Canada, and the relevant legislation that applies to the rehabilitation and transitions of incarcerated youth from custody back to the community. The current practices in the province of Nova Scotia are highlighted, where a total institutional restorative approach has been implemented in custodial institutions to enhance the effective rehabilitation and transitions of incarcerated youth.
